Background on the Book

So I’ve been writing since I was a little kid and my family has always encouraged me to write a book. The thing is, I am very stubborn and the more you tell me to do something the more I don’t want to do that thing. So I spent years telling anyone who asked me if I was ever going to write a book, no.
Then, in 2025, I decided to take a creative writing class. I figured family is always going to tell you you’re good at something, but a stranger isn’t going to feel the same loyalty and support a family member does. So I signed up and figured worse thing, the professor tells me I need a lot of work, and I can take that as a “this isn’t for you” type sign. Despite some bumps in the road when it came to the class, more so the professor’s time management than my writing, the feedback I received was very positive.
Fast forward to March of 2026, I had to have surgery and to pass the time, I figured why not put all of my creative writing assignments together, along with some poems I had scattered throughout my phone and notes app, and literally 2 days post op, created the book.
The first version was sort of laughably bad. If you’ve visited my social media pages, you’ll already know that the first copy that only went to 25 selected family and friends add the words “Add Text” across the cover. There were a couple spelling mistakes also, but I figured that being 2 days post op, I didn’t do too bad.
So, I fixed up the mistakes and now we have Version 2, which is the one you featured on the site. But I admit, the first version holds a special place in my heart.
To give you a little giggle, here is the original cover 🤣.
